2019 Law for Black Lives Fellowship

Law For Black Lives is offering a 6-month fellowship for legal workers and lawyers to support work towards divestment from exploitative forces including prisons, police, surveillance and fossil fuels and investment in long term community based strategies for safe, sustainable communities. Fellows receive funding, training and community to turn their ideas into a reality and help build the necessary infrastructure to support transformative social change.

2019 Huneke Fellowship for Students Interested in International Practice

The Huneke Fellowship is an annual program administered by the Washington State Bar Association’s International Practice Section (IPS). The Fellowship is designed to provide real-world experience, networking opportunities, and modest financial assistance for a law student interested in the international practice of law. The Huneke Fellow will also have the opportunity to work directly with practitioners in the field of international law on IPS events and logistics. Each year the IPS awards one Huneke Fellowship, which includes a $1,000 stipend, to a current 1L or 2L student.

Alaska Public Defender Agency seeks Staff Attorneys

The Alaska Public Defender Agency seeks Staff Attorneys for its Juneau, Kodiak, Bethel and Palmer offices. Trial attorneys for the Alaska Public Defender Agency provide court appointed legal representation to indigent individuals in criminal cases. Applicants must possess outstanding writing and analytical skills and be able to work independently to research and compose legal briefs as well as possess strong oral advocacy skills and clinical/trial practicum experience. Applicants must be admitted to the Alaska bar, be willing to sit for the next Alaska Bar exam, or be eligible for bar admission by reciprocity. Prior legal experience preferred but not required.

The Sauk-Suitattle Tribe has a vacancy in their legal aid/public defender office. The Public Defender/ Legal Aid Attorney serves the general membership of the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe. The primary duty of this position is to act as a public defender in the Sauk-Suiattle Tribal Court, representing eligible defendants, and to advise and represent eligible clients in addressing civil legal matters before the Sauk-Suiattle Tribal Court and elsewhere.
