The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks a bilingual attorney to work with individuals in removal proceedings in Seattle, Washington. The attorney will provide direct representation in removal proceedings, including representation at the Tacoma or Seattle Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Ninth Circuit court of appeals. Attorneys will be managing a high-volume workload with complex legal issues in immigration and criminal law.

Due August 20: NWIRP, Bilingual Legal Advocate/Paralegal in Tacoma, WA

The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks a bilingual legal advocate/paralegal to work in its Tacoma office. The applicant must be fluent in English and Spanish. The advocate will work mainly with individuals detained at the Northwest Detention Center, a regional immigration detention facility that houses up to 1,575 detainees. The advocate will be part of a team providing immigration legal services to those detained at the detention center and will play a key role in collecting robust data, conducting case tracking, and producing . This will include assisting in case preparation and evidence gathering for high-volume workloads.

The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks a full-time bilingual legal advocate to work in our Removal Defense unit. The applicant must be fluent in English and Spanish.

The Removal Defense unit provides direct representation, outreach and education throughout the state of Washington to immigrants in removal proceedings. The unit screens individuals in removal proceedings for various forms of relief, including but not limited to, asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, various forms of humanitarian relief under VAWA and TVPRA, and termination of proceedings. The legal advocate will also work with other staff members on different types of immigration cases as needed.

This position will be based at NWIRP’s Seattle office.
