The Office of the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation is seeking an attorney to join the legal team supporting litigation involving challenges to DOE programs, actions and interests.
The incumbent represents DOE’s interests in litigation before administrative bodies, Federal district courts, courts of appeal, and other courts to provide legal advice and counsel on highly complex and difficult legal issues, and coordinates and prepares cases with the Department of Justice (DOJ). Cases may include issues of civil procedure, Federal court jurisdiction, and energy, administrative, Constitutional, environmental, contract, civil rights, or other areas of law. Cases assigned to the incumbent may have broad impact on government-wide programs and involve complex factual questions and significant legal issues. Given the scope, complexity, and sensitivity of cases, and the amount of potential damages, the incumbent maintains close working relations with officials at various levels within and outside DOE to resolve substantive problems and issues. Due Nov. 18, 2016: NOAA hiring recent grads
The NOAA Office of the General Counsel is recruiting highly-qualified law school students, judicial law clerks, and legal fellows for entry level attorney positions in regional and headquarters offices for our Fall 2017 Attorney Honors Program. Approximately two to four positions are available for the Fall 2017 Program.
Honors Program attorneys will participate in rotations through the legal sections located in the Washington, D.C. area. Attorneys may also volunteer to rotate through a regional section. At the end of the rotations and consistent with the needs of the Office, we will permanently place attorneys in a specific legal section, making reasonable efforts to take into account their preferences for a permanent location. While we expect to place attorneys in one of the Washington, D.C. area sections, attorneys may request permanent placement in one of the six regional sections in Seattle, WA; St. Petersburg, FL; Gloucester, MA; Long Beach, CA; Juneau, AK; and Honolulu, HI. Project Safety is a federally-funded (Victims of Crime Act) initiative that provides civil legal services to victims of crime in coordination with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office (KCPAO). Project Safety is an integrated, multi-agency partnership working to address a range of critical legal needs in order to ensure the safety and well-being of crime victims. KCBA Pro Bono Services seeks a Project Safety staff attorney to provide legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence in Domestic Violence Protection Order cases and to develop a pro bono court-based program in collaboration with KCPAO’s Protection Order Advocacy Program (POAP) at the King County Superior Court. The Washington State House of Representatives’ Office of Program Research (OPR) provides nonpartisan staff support to House members and committees in Olympia. OPR is currently seeking candidates for a staff position as Counsel. The candidate selected to fill this position will provide support to the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee and the House Environment Committee. The House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee considers issues relating to agricultural production, marketing, and sales; animal and plant disease control; fisheries and wildlife; forest practices and forest fire protection; water; and mining. The committee also considers the management of certain state-owned lands.
The House Environment Committee considers issues relating to the State Environmental Policy Act, the Shoreline Management Act, air quality, aquatic lands, oil spill prevention, recycling and solid waste, hazardous waste, toxics, climate change, and parks and recreation. The committee also oversees the Puget Sound Partnership’s activities in Puget Sound and Hood Canal.
