The Council of State Governments Justice Center (CSG Justice Center) is a national nonprofit organization that provides practical, nonpartisan advice and consensus-driven strategies, informed by available evidence, to increase public safety and strengthen communities.

The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for in-depth analysis of relevant administrative policy, programmatic design and implementation, research, and legislation; coordinating and sometimes leading teams of expert consultants conducting on-site, intensive technical assistance or data collection in state and local jurisdictions; developing legislative and administrative policy options; and coordinating and participating in politically sensitive meetings with high-ranking local, state, and federal officials, advocates and other experts across the country. The Senior Policy Analyst will also be expected to contribute to organizational development by refining office policies and procedures; developing strategic project plans and timelines; and identifying grant opportunities and drafting proposals. The Senior Policy Analyst works on multiple projects across the Justice Center, focused on an issue or set of issues in which he or she has advanced knowledge and can provide technical assistance. This position offers a significant level of responsibility and opportunity for an individual with an established career in either criminal justice policy or another social policy such as health or behavioral health with an interest in criminal justice issues.

The Spiegel Summer Program is designed to introduce law degree candidates or recipients to the firm’s practice areas (Electric, Gas, Environment and Energy, Hydro and Water, Telecommunications, Transportation, Utility Workforce, Public Policy and Lobbying, Litigation and Appeals, Compliance and Enforcement, and Contracts and Rate Negotiations), our approach to quality legal representation, and our culture. Summer associate projects are regular work assignments for Spiegel & McDiarmid clients. The majority of the work is billable. U.S. DOJ Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section Seeking Volunteer Legal Intern for Summer 2015, Due 3/1/15

The U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section, seeks full-time (40 hours/week) volunteer legal interns for summer 2015. Summer interns generally work for 10 weeks, but split summers (6 week minimum) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Students who will be second- or third-year law students, or enrolled in a graduate law program, in the 2015-2016 school year will be considered.

Interns work closely with Section attorneys in cases and investigations involving discrimination against students on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, and disability in public schools, colleges, and universities. Assignments typically include legal research and writing, assisting attorneys with investigations and compliance monitoring, assisting with fact development (including participating in witness interviews), and preparing for court appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations. Interested interns may participate in one of the Division-wide working groups, including the LGBTI Working Group, Indian Working Group, and Status Verification Working Group, as well as inter-agency working groups such as the Supportive School Discipline Initiative and the Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention.

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is a flagship leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates. It was created more than three decades ago by Executive Order and has gone through many changes over the years. The Program attracts and selects the best candidates possible, but is really designed with a more narrow focus – developing a cadre of potential government leaders.  The PMF Program inculcates a lasting bond as well as a spirit of public service, ultimately encouraging and leading to a career in the government.

The PMF Program Office invites interested applicants to join us for two upcoming webcasts, conducted through Adobe Connect, to provide information for the Class of 2015 PMF application.

The Class of 2015 PMF application will open from October 1-15, 2014, and the announcement can be found at www.USAJOBS.gov when it opens (simply search for “Presidential Management Fellows” during the open period).

Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 3:00-4:30pm (Eastern Time):  A one-time Applicant Information Session that will focus on a general overview of the PMF Program, the 2015 PMF application, and a panel of current Fellows offering their advice and experiences.  There will also be an opportunity to ask questions throughout the presentation.

Wednesday, October 8 from 1:30-3:30pm (Eastern Time):  A question and answer session where applicants may submit questions regarding the 2015 PMF application cycle.

These webcasts will be conducted on-line through Adobe Connect and will have dedicated PMF Program Office staff to answer questions.  Applicants can connect at http://opm.adobeconnect.com/pmfapplicantchat/ and select “Enter as a Guest.”  Please note, the audio from the webcasts will be provided through your computer/device audio output.

The objective of this position is to facilitate efficient, effective and smooth operations of WSBA’s Public Service and Diversity Programs. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, this position works at the direction of the Public Service Program Manager and Diversity Program Manager and collaborates with other applicable staff members at the WSBA. The Coordinator’s key functions are:  (a) Meeting and Event Coordination, (b) Administrative & Project Support, and (c) Stakeholder Communications. In the performance of these duties, the Justice & Diversity Programs Coordinator has the following responsibilities: Coordinating and supporting meetings and events of the Pro Bono and Public Service Committee and the Diversity Committee by: scheduling and tracking RSVPs and attendance venue logistics, including help with set-up and clean-up; assigning and tracking use of conference call codes; agenda and materials preparation; Taking minutes and tracking action items; Preparing a year-end record; processing volunteer expense reimbursements; coordinating annual appointment processes; tracking volunteer registrations; Sending welcome messages; authenticating volunteers to access free educational programs; managing assigned webpages and list serves monitoring program in boxes and responding to inquiries and preparing diversity updates.
