Today, more than 600 million adolescent girls around the world are faced with poverty, early marriage, pregnancy, and HIV, or any combination of these factors.
Join Global Impact and Global Washington in a conversation with Sarah Degnan Kambou, President of the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW),to discuss new findings about effective interventions working towards ending the harmful practice of child marriage, and the integral role of women and girls in alleviating global poverty.
Strategies to be discussed include:
- Empowering girls with information, skills and support networks
- Educating and rallying parents and community members
- Providing economic support and incentives to girls and their families
- Enhancing girls’ access to a high-quality education
- Advocating for supportive laws and policies
