Workshop on Police Brutality
The ASUW Student Disability Commission, the D Center at the University of Washington, and the Q Center at the University of the Washington present, “Broken Bodies, Brainwash Ph.Ds., & PBP: Police Brutality Profiling.”
Activist and recent graduate student Gioioa von Disterlo and disabled activist/cultural worker, Leroy Moore, will team up to present a workshop that uses a mixture of multi-media, critical thinking, poetry, song, and exercises. Activities will focus on police brutality against people with disabilities. The workshop will examine the perception of disability in our communities, institutions of higher education, media, and non-profits. (Photo: Steve Rhodes.)
The event will be held at the Ethnic Cultural Center, 3931 Brooklyn Ave. NE, at Brooklyn Ave NE and NE 40th St. The event is FREE and open to the community.
Washington Medical Legal Partnership Foster Care Conference
Please join us Friday, March 8, for an upcoming conference, “Improving Legal Outcomes for Patients in Foster Care,” hosted by the Washington Medical Legal Partnership. The conference focuses on the intersection of health and legal needs for youth in the foster care system.
The morning conference will be held at Seattle Children’s, with an option for webcast attendance if preferred. Continuing education credits will be available. See here for details.
