The Presidential Management Fellowship requires applicants to have obtained a graduate or professional degree within the previous two years. Starting this year, there is a self-nomination process; applicants are no longer required to have a school sponsor.  The positions are two-year duration with conversion potential and require an agreement, rotational assignments, and individual development plan (IDP), among other requirements.  Application period opens and closes quickly, usually in September-October. The Spring 2013 White House Internship Program application is now open and the application deadline is Sunday, September 23, 2012.  The White House Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills.  This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today’s young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office of the President, and engage them in public service opportunities.

A complete application includes:

·         series of short answers

·         one-page resume

·         responses to two essay questions

·         two letters of recommendation

The U.S. Department of Labor is now accepting applications for its Honors Program for Fall 2013. Applicants must graduate from law school in Spring or Summer 2013 or complete a judicial clerkship or legal fellowship in time to start the Honors Program in September 2013. Please review the specific requirements for each position below.  For the most part, to qualify for an attorney position, applicants must possess a professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.); be a member in good standing of the bar of a court of general jurisdiction of a state, territory or possession of the United States; and have acquired the amount of experience indicated below for each grade level.  As a baseline, recent law school graduates with minimal legal experience qualify for positions at the GS-9 pay grade.  To qualify for a position at the GS-12 grade, applicants must possess at least two (2) years of progressively responsible legal experience (post law school graduation) of a professional nature and more experience for each progressive grade increase.
