The Washington State Bar Association is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the 2013 Fellows Class of the Leadership Institute, a nationally recognized and comprehensive leadership program. The deadline for submitting applications is September 21, 2012 by 5:00 p.m.
The mission of the Washington Leadership Institute (WLI) is to develop and enhance the leadership skills of Washington State attorneys from underrepresented segments of our profession. The WLI targets attorneys who have practiced for three to ten years and those with diverse backgrounds (racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, varying physical abilities, cultural and geographic diversity). In August 2012, the Leadership Institute will have graduated nearly 100 Fellows from the Program who will serve in various leadership roles in WSBA related committees, sections, and organizations, as well as leadership roles in various community organizations. Fellows will devote at least 70 hours to the program, which includes eight professional development seminars (topics such as leadership skills, nuts and bolts of law practice, the judiciary, public versus private sector employment, and the legislative process), participation in a group community service project, a mentorship program, and various opportunities to interact with Washington state legal, judicialand political leaders. Upon completion, Fellows will earn a significant number of CLE credits. The program is provided at no charge to participants.
